Paused, not cancelled

Following its review of local government reorganisation, the Government announced on 29 October 2026 that it is “minded to” confirm a single unitary authority for Gloucestershire before Christmas, replacing the existing seven councils. The July decision announced in our last Newsletter has been withdrawn, and implementation remains paused pending confirmation.
