Autumn 2026

Gloucestershire Heritage Hub

New additions to our collections

We've had an abundance of archival deposits since the last newsletter. As always, we have had our usual influx of parish and parish council records, together with various deposits from schools, such as Kings Stanley Infants (S190/1), Alderman Knights (S329/11), Uplands County Primary, Stroud (S320/7), Kingsholm Senior Boys School (S154/14), Amberley Parochial School (S13) and Swindon Village National (later County Primary) School (S324).

There have also been many less predictable deposits, such as glass plate negatives of Gloucester and the surrounding area (D17370) and umatic tapes of the work of filmmaker, Brian Chaplin (D15712).

Records for Petty Sessions Division of the magistrates court were deposited, mainly consisting of minutes, correspondence and photographs, for the districts of Stroud, Berkeley, Dursley, Whitminster and South Glos (PS).

We received missing editions of Randwick Runner, to make it an almost complete run of weekly publications since the early 1960s, well over 3000 editions (D15332).

Finally we've had additions to a number of business archives that we hold, such as Charles Dickens, tobacconist of Cheltenham (D3790), Dowty Group of Cheltenham (D8347) and The Famous of Cheltenham (D16699).
