Welcome to the Winter 2018/19 edition of the Heritage Hub newsletter.
Gloucestershire Heritage Hub was a buzz with activity and excitement as 180 invited guests, Hub volunteers and staff were on hand to welcome HRH Princess Royal, who officially opened the Hub on Tuesday 8th January. The Princess chatted to volunteers about their valued tasks, and to staff and heritage partners about the creation of the Hub. She also enjoyed seeing a collection of documents specifically about Gatcombe Park, as well as an “action shot” of her son in law Mike Tyndall. Celebrations were completed as Gloucestershire Archives’ longest serving volunteer Nancy Lockwood cut a spectacular cake to mark the occasion.

Just before the unveiling of the plaque Heather Forbes (Head of Archives) thanked everyone involved in the project -
It has been a real pleasure collaborating with a greater range and number of partners than ever before, and seeing what a difference we can make together. Above all the Hub is about people and their lives – including staff, volunteers, partners, researchers, families, funders, and of course all the voices of the individuals and communities represented in the 9 miles of records we look after here.
I’d like to thank Gloucestershire County Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund the principal funders of this project. Also everyone in this room for your contribution to our vision – it's your passion, expertise, funds, and team work that have helped make this project a reality.
