Power and the People: A Gloucestershire Example from the 18th Century

Friday 20 Sept, 10.30 - 11.30am at the Heritage Hub

Tickets: £7

In October 1756, Lt. Col. Wolfe, later to become the tragic victor over the French in Canada only three years later, was ordered to march six companies of soldiers to Gloucestershire to suppress rioting by impoverished broad cloth weavers. This presentation by the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum will present both sides of the story and offer a unique insight into the mind of a military commander ordered to demonstrate governmental power to the people through his own letters.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This event has suitable wheelchair access.
