Despite the closure of the Heritage Hub and Family History Centre, much of the business of the GFHS has been able to continue ‘behind the scenes’. We are extremely grateful to Ally, who has been collecting and delivering our post, most of which has been membership renewals at this busy time of year. We’ve been able to process these, as well as deal with online merchandise sales, and at time of writing, the summer edition of our journal is being distributed to members.
Our Facebook and Twitter presence is being maintained, and we have also been able to deal with online help enquiries, and can still deal with ‘searches’ and ‘look-ups’. Please continue to email `firstname.lastname@example.org` for this service.
Whilst this is all well and good, we look forward to a time when we will be able to re-open the Family History Centre and once again welcome visitors and researchers. To that end, we are considering what arrangements we will need to put in place to ensure the Centre can open safely, liaising closely with the Archives. Hopefully by the time you are reading this, significant progress will have been made towards this.
