In 2016, a densely crowded group of partly disturbed graves was found between Andover and Weyhill, Hampshire. From the evidence of violence, punishment and disarticulated bone across the site, it soon became clear that this was not a normal cemetery. Dating from the 10th (or earlier) to 14th centuries, how did these individuals die and why is the site described as a punishment cemetery?
